"There was no room at the inn for reveller Joseph Batty who was turned away from popular town centre nightspot because he was wearing a stripey jumper. Market trader Joseph was bemused to be told by door staff that his navy jumper with two white stripes prevented him from being allowed inside Berlins Nightclub. Mr Batty said "I was absolutely gobsmacked. I said you have got be kidding but the doorman said it was a new dress-code and pointed to a noticeboard." He added "I have never heard anything like it and I thought the bouncers were joking but they said it with a straight face. I just cannot understand the thinking behind it, I mean a lot of people wear jumpers with stripes or some sort of logo on them" (you're telling me) Lindsey Deaville manager and licensee of the Silver Street venue, said a dress had been implemented to deter a crowd of young trouble-makers (C-Bass!!!!) who regularly wore stripey jumpers and gold chains and who had been acting aggressively in pubs and clubs in the area. She said other night-spots in the town used similar policies. She added "The policy was brought into protect our customers but I will be having a word with staff to make sure they use their discretion." |
