Virtual Illusion rock Spider's Web..........again
As you may or may not of known on the 17 July, Danums very own rock band played at Spider's Web. However this time they didn't merely have to impress their loyal army of fans; no this time they were performing in front of a not particularly nice women from the local rag; The Donny Free Press. Now in the past this women has not given bands to kinder a review, and to be fair VI got let off pretty lightly. She was bemused by their selection of tunes, but still managed to put them down,a tad harsh, but these things will happen lads on your rise to fame.
Now I realise by publishing the review on the web I am probably breaking any number of copywrite laws, but I feel by doing this I am providing a public service and perhaps if I change certain aspects of it, I will get away with it. Besides if their website www.doncasteronline.co.uk wasn't some two bit operation, I would have put a link straight to the review, however they don't bother putting things like that on the web, so I will.
"Only a fledgling Donny band could get away with playing a set almost entirely of covers, and still give it something completely of their own. (I have added the word of, as in the paper, it was left out from the sentence ".....completely of their own", meaning it didn't make sense.)
Spider's Web was packed with parents, girlfriends and bemused music-lovers. (what about village idiots, ie. Beanokru.) Having only recently come to terms with eighties rock, hearing Sweet Child of Mine bludgeoned under the dreams of ego-inflated youth could have sent me running for the nearest folk festival.
However the sheer nerve of the boys had me transfixed. Even when they played Greenday. There was a brief moment of relief as they played a couple of their own songs. A steady keyboard-led ballad followed by a nice simple punky-rock headbanger more suited to their raw sound. A well deserved rest for us all as the lads took a break and then straight back on stage with Thunderstorm by AC/DC, which became T-rex's 20th Century Boy before our very own eyes.
And just to prove they've got a sense of humour, this medley of mirth mutates in to The Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. Huh? It's all a big mashy pool of rock-god fantasies really, groupies, stardom, money and excess. The dreams of youth."

So there you go, she didn't mention the band's name, which depending on the way you look at it, could be a good or bad thing.

Save the Kru: Part 2
After appealing for support in the quest to save the Beanokru website last month, I can now say we received no e-mails of support. Although some might be disheartened by this, not us. No instead we set up a web poll which is asking for trouble.
The question we ask is what would you say to Beano about his quest to save the Beanokru?  Would you,

a) say, "Stump up you tight bastard , the lower sixth need a dose of your egocentic, oddball humour during a dull free period."
b)  say, " Stand firm, don't give in to those money grabbers, and take your business elsewhere."
c) say, " Do neither, this site is a load of shit anyway, the best thing to do would be to close it down and never speak of it again."
The results were:- a) 57%
                                   b) 43%
                                   c) 0%

There was some positive news though, last week was the best week for hits for the site with nearly 50 people visiting, although it is unknown how many of these were Beano, Ginner and BiG Pete. The petition at Fructidor 2 also through up some interesting signatures, including Martin Luther King, JFK, Mad Dog McGuire, Eddie spaghetti and a D.Irons and V.Cusworth.
Also the guestbook remains and has been taken over by a sad individual who has set up his own fanclub and also likes to pretend to be a Bulgarian. BiG Pete for this reason you are the first Beankru Gimp of the month. Also check out our new message board and Fake ID's interview
( Please note: this poll is just for fun and bugger all notice will be taken of it.)
Some Brief news
Broke up from school
Went out on the piss
Nothing much else has happened
P.S. Looks as if the Beanokru website will be continuing after all. There is just one problem we don't have a credit card to pay with, but we are working on it and we'll be back bigger and brighter in September. Throughout the summer holidays keep an eye out on the Forthcoming events bar which, as you might have expected will inform you of any forthcoming events.
